what's on our feet?

Romany - 34yo, mum of two, working part time, dog walking, gardening, gym

We live in the Illawarra, so going barefoot is appropriate much of the time. My sensory preference is to wear shoes most of the time I'm outside the house/off my house block - I'm not a fan of prickles in my feet and there's heaps around here in spring and summer.

For casual wear in summer I love the Aylla Nuna Blue I wear them with white ankle socks and they go great with shorts and skirts. In winter I like the Aylla Tiksi Black. They go great with toe socks and jeans or skirts and dresses. Both these shoes and my toe socks are sourced from Minimalist Shoes Australia.

For walking the dog I like the Freet Flex. In the garden I wear gumboots from Big W which unfortunately, they no longer stock (and neither do Kmart or similar at time of writing).

For bushwalking I wear these boots from BPrimal. They have excellent traction over rough terrain due to the large lugs on the soles.

For summer sandals I have the these from PaperKrane. I can walk endlessly in these ones. They do get a bit smelly being leather innersoled and inevitably get some dirt on them. I give them a scrub with gentle soap and dry with paper towel then leave to air dry in the shade. The PaperKrane sandals are cushioned and although not really wide enough for my (admittedly enormous) forefoot, because they're a sandal, I can get away with them and find them really comfy. They're also a really fun colour.

I wear these from Xero shoes a lot! Again,

Nat - landscape gardener, home renovation, home with kids

Nat spends a lot more time barefoot than I do.

For work boots where he doesn't need a steel cap or solid sole he wears Real Foot Farmer boots

For steel cap he wears Wide Load zip side boots. For casual he wears skate style shoes.

For sandals he wears these.

He prefers zero drop with space for his toes, but hates wearing toe socks! Initially on changing to barefoot style shoes, he saw a great improvement in lesser toe deformities. His 2nd and 3rd toes were starting to stiffen into a hammer toe deformity. But working on his toe splay and going to minimalist shoes, he has reversed those deformities entirely.

5 year old

My five year old is in kindergarten where most of the environment is artifical.  Enclosed shoes are required and she's in these from Saguaro .

2 year old

lHe alsol oltwo year old is home with me or his dad, not attending daycare. So he can be barefoot whenever he wants. I like him in shoes when he's riding a balance bike or scooter or riding my bike on the shotgun seat. He's loving  these from Vivobarefoot.
